Like a soap bubble, light and shiny, “NR2” dresses your space with its unusual presence. In the tradition of the iconic Random Light pendant, the famous Dutch designer Bertjan Pot continues his experimentation with fibreglass… NR2 uses the same manufacturing process as the Random Light pendant: the lampshade is made by winding fibreglass threads around an inflatable mould, gradually forming a translucent 3D mesh. The structure is then soaked in epoxy resin: the threads, once soaked, become rigid. The internal mould is deflated and extracted from the solidified structure. Like many of Bertjan Pot’s projects, the NR2 pendant is based on the idea of ​​a structural skin: the skin becomes the product. The mesh patterns let the light shine through, creating a play of shadows for a surprising effect. The fibreglass threads used are thinner than on the Random Light. The shape of the lampshade has also been modified: the sphere is flattened, becoming more oblong.
